During the debate on the budget in the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, Punjab Jail Minister Harjot Bains made a big disclosure about UP gangster Mukhtar Ansari. After this, there was a lot of allegations and counter allegations between the parties and the opposition. The jail minister alleged that the previous government had registered a fake FIR against Mukhtar Ansari and did not even produce a challan against him. The minister said that such a case has come to the fore which has surprised everyone. He said that Mukhtar Ansari was lodged in Ropar Jail in Punjab and the previous government of the state had spent Rs 55 lakh for not handing him over to the UP Police.
He further said that the UP government issued several production warrants to take Mukhtar Ansari to UP, but the Congress government of Punjab did not hand over Mukhtar Ansari to the UP Police. After this the UP government had to go to the Supreme Court. On this, the Punjab government appointed a big lawyer in the Supreme Court for Mukhtar Ansari, who has now received a bill of Rs 55 lakh to the AAP government.

The minister also alleged that Mukhtar Ansari was kept in a barracks where 25 prisoners could stay in Ropar jail for two years and three months. In that barrack, Mukhtar Ansari was given VIP treatment and his wife also stayed with him. The minister said that he has given orders to register an FIR in this matter on whose orders everything happened.
Bajwa challenged to present evidence
On this, Leader of Opposition Pratap Bajwa objected and demanded the minister to present evidence. During this, former minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also stood up from his seat and he also demanded to produce evidence, refuting the allegations. During this, noise started from the benches of the ruling party as well. Minister Harjot Bains stuck to his point and said that whatever he is saying is absolutely correct.

When Minister Harjot Bains was accusing the previous government in the House regarding Mukhtar Ansari, Leader of Opposition Pratap Bajwa said – this is a debate on the budget and you are raising other issues. If you are raising the issue of Mukhtar Ansari, then should we raise the issue of Lawrence Bishnoi? He said that if we speak on saving Lawrence Bishnoi then you will be in trouble. Along with this, Bajwa also challenged the minister to produce evidence of the allegations leveled against Ansari.
