On Tuesday, a day after the arrest of ALT News co-founder Mohammad Zubair on Monday for allegedly making tweets that vitiated communal atmosphere, KPS Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner, IFSC Cell of Delhi Police said that hate speech on Twitter after Mohammad Zubair’s objectionable tweets. There was a flood, which disturbed the communal harmony.
“Two things – technical gadgets and purpose – were important. He was wrong in both, the phone was formatted. He was arrested on these grounds.
He said, “If you display any thoughts on social media, they become your thoughts. Retweet a post and say I don’t know, it doesn’t make any sense here. The accountability is yours. Time doesn’t matter, all you have to do is retweet and it’s brand new. The action of the police depends on when the matter came to our notice.
He further said, “If someone is named in many cases, then it is our right to question him in all cases. The judiciary has intervened, custody has been granted, bail has not been granted, the case is definitely strong somewhere. Calling it politically motivated is not right. We will seek extension of his remand.”
