Five bodies identified, three residents of Rajasthan and two from Delhi
Five of the 16 people who lost their lives in the Amarnath accident have been identified. In this, three are residents of Rajasthan and two are residents of Delhi. Meanwhile, Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen ADS Aujla is also reaching the affected area to take stock of the relief and rescue operations. On the spot, the army’s MI 17 helicopter is engaged.

More than fifty passengers injured
Most of them are Amarnath pilgrims. The injured have been airlifted. The number of missing people is large, due to which the rescue operation continued even in the night despite darkness. At the same time, the travel route has also been washed away at many places. In such a situation, different rescue teams are shifting the stranded passengers to safer places.

According to the police, all the agencies are involved in the rescue operation. The injured are being airlifted. An NDRF official said that the rescue team has so far retrieved 16 bodies.

A tent city (traveller’s camp) has been built for the pilgrims just in front of the holy cave. There is a provision for four to six people to stay in a tent here. Three anchorages and close to 40 tents were washed away with the floods. There was a stampede among the passengers and there was shouting.

The injured were airlifted to the hospital
Thousands of people have been airlifted to a safe place and the injured to the hospital. In view of the accident, the administration has stopped the journey for the time being. The cloud burst at a distance of about two kilometers from the Amarnath cave at 5.30 pm on Friday, an official said. Due to this, the flood in the drain flowing in front of the cave created havoc.

Amarnath Cloudburst LIVE: Bodies of 16 pilgrims recovered, rescue continued overnight, yatra suspended for the time being
Amid warnings of heavy rain, 16 pilgrims have been killed and around 40 people have gone missing after a cloudburst near the Amarnath cave. After the cloudburst, the influx from the mountain washed away about 40 tents including 3 langars set up for the devotees. The inundation came out in the middle of the tents made for the devotees in front of the cave. Several teams related to disaster management including Army, NDRF and SDRF are engaged in relief and rescue work. People were immediately evacuated from the tents of the flood-hit camp to the slopes of the mountain. Many people have been saved. The injured are being airlifted. About five thousand people were present near the cave at the time of the accident. The journey has been put on hold for the time being. Several teams related to disaster management including Army, NDRF and SDRF are continuously engaged in relief and rescue work.
