BJP should not impose its agenda
The TMC leader today hit back at the BJP, saying it should not teach the people of Bengal how Kali Puja is performed. BJP should not become the custodian of Hindu gods. Moitra said the BJP cannot impose its views on those in other parts of the country who have different traditions for the last 2,000 years on the basis of the ways of worship of deities in North India.

Spoken as a mature leader
MP Moitra, while talking to a Bengali news channel on Thursday night, said that he has acted as a mature leader by taking his stand on the issue, because of the BJP’s desire to impose its Hindutva agenda and impose its unitary views on other caste groups. The attempt should be opposed together.

Ram and Hanuman not only of BJP
Moitra said that the BJP should refrain from imposing the worship system of North Indians on the people of other parts of the country. Hindus in West Bengal follow their well-established customs for centuries. Who is the BJP going to teach us how to worship Goddess Kali in a particular way? Neither Lord Ram nor Lord Hanuman belong to BJP only. Has the party taken the patta of Hinduism? Being a Kali devotee, I know how to worship Kali. We have been worshiping the Goddess for the last two thousand years.

Challenge to the states registering the case
Mahua Moitra challenged the BJP state governments that had filed cases against them to file affidavits in the courts regarding the offerings to Goddess Kali. Moitra asked whether the CM of Assam can give in writing to the court what prasad is offered to Kamakhya Devi? Governments of other BJP ruled states can also give a similar affidavit in court that what is offered to the goddess in their states as prasad?
