hear the news
Anand Sharma, a political stalwart and member of the “G-23” or group of disgruntled Congress leaders, met BJP chief JP Nadda this evening, fueling speculation that he would join the saffron camp. The meeting took place a few months before the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, from where Anand Sharma was elected to the Upper House of Parliament.
Full right to meet BJP chief JP Nadda
According to sources, there was discussion about Anand Sharma joining BJP in the meeting. However, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anand Sharma made a big statement on the news of meeting BJP President JP Nadda. He said that if I want to meet BJP chief JP Nadda, then I have every right to meet him.
BJP President Nadda has been a student of the same university
Also said that for me, he is not just BJP President. We both come from the same state and have been students of the same university and we have social and family ties as well. No political significance should be added to it.
If I want to meet them, I’ll go freely
He further said that if I want to meet him, then I will go openly. What’s the big deal in this? I belong to Congress. Being ideologically opposed does not mean that there is any personal division between us. We do not make ideological opponents our social enemies.
Discussion on the political situation of Himachal Pradesh
Anand Sharma is one of the important members of G-23 who have expressed their displeasure with the party leadership many times and publicly. If sources are to be believed, the political situation and equations of Himachal Pradesh were also discussed in the meeting.
