Former state Congress president Raj Babbar has been sentenced to two years and a fine of six and a half thousand rupees by the MP-MLA court. An FIR was lodged against him at Wazirganj Kotwali.

Raj Babbar has been sentenced by the court for influencing voting by entering the polling booth and misbehaving with the polling agent.

In the case, polling officer Shri Krishna Singh Rana had lodged a report against many people including Raj Babbar, Arvind Yadav on May 2, 1996 at Wazirganj police station. It said that Raj Babbar along with his supporters forcibly entered the polling booth and obstructed the official work and misbehaved with the people on duty.

After investigation in the case, a charge sheet was filed against Raj Babbar and Arvind Yadav on 23 March 1996.
