But the post-mortem report revealed that his throat was slit with a sharp weapon. After this, the police solved the case by registering a case of murder.

Shahdara District Deputy Commissioner of Police R.Sathasundaram said that on July 1, at 12.38 pm, the police had received information that a woman was injured after falling from the stairs. The victim Sapna (22) (name changed) was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The woman had a deep cut on her neck. Her mangalsutra was also tied around her neck. Initially, it was felt that the mangalsutra got entangled in the woman’s neck due to the fall and her throat was cut with the mangalsutra itself. But when the post-mortem report came, it changed this fact.

On July 3, Gandhi Nagar police station registered a case of murder and started investigation. Now the question before the police was who slit the woman’s throat and why. When the woman’s husband was questioned, it was found that he had gone to work at the time of the incident. In the building where the woman used to live on rent, a large number of people take rented rooms in that building. The police investigated the CCTV cameras installed nearby and about 100 tenants were questioned.

Apart from this, whoever was suspected by the police, was interrogated for a long time. After a long investigation, the police questioned the tenant Man Singh, who lives on the second floor, when he broke down. He told that he has been drinking alcohol since the age of about 12-13 years. For the last three years, he was living in this building on the second floor. He works in a factory making cloth collars. He did not go there on July 1 as the factory was painted. He brought factory work at home. Around 9.30 am, he brought scissors from a nearby shop, which he had given for sharpening. When all the people living in the building left at ten o’clock in the morning, the accused started drinking beer. Meanwhile, at 11.45, when Sapna went to the terrace to dry clothes, the accused stopped her while she was alive. The accused tried to forcefully with the woman. When the woman protested and talked about telling her husband, he slit her throat with scissors. After the incident, the accused came to his room. He washed the scissors with blood and later washed his clothes too. Police is also trying to recover the scissors used in the crime on the behest of the accused.
