Yes, the police has solved the mystery of the woman’s death on July 1 in Gandhi Nagar area. The police have arrested the woman as well as another tenant living in the building in this regard.
The accused has been identified as Man Singh (25) resident of village Hajipur Patona, Manjanpur, Kaushambi, UP. On the day of the incident, the woman had gone to the terrace to dry clothes. While returning, the accused forced her to stop her way on the stairs. On talking of protesting and complaining to her husband, the accused angrily slit her throat with scissors. The woman fell down the stairs and the mangalsutra entered her severed neck. In the initial investigation, it seemed that during the fall, his throat was cut by the mangalsutra itself. But the post-mortem report revealed that his throat was slit with a sharp weapon. After this, the police solved the case by registering a case of murder.
Shahdara District Deputy Commissioner of Police R.Sathasundaram said that on July 1, at 12.38 pm, the police had received information that a woman was injured after falling from the stairs. The victim Sapna (22) (name changed) was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The woman had a deep cut on her neck. Her mangalsutra was also tied around her neck. Initially, it was felt that the mangalsutra got entangled in the woman’s neck due to the fall and her throat was cut with the mangalsutra itself. But when the post-mortem report came, it changed this fact.
