Legislators of Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde faction claimed on Wednesday that 12 out of 18 Shiv Sena MPs would soon join the Eknath Shinde-led faction. A day earlier, a Shiv Sena MP had requested party chief Uddhav Thackeray to announce his support for NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.

Speaking to reporters in his constituency in Jalgaon district, Gulabrao Patil, who was a minister in the previous Thackeray-led Maharashtra government, said the Shinde faction will restore the party’s glory. We have 40 MLAs out of 55 with us and 12 out of 18 MPs are coming with us. So whose party is it? I have personally met four MPs. We also have 22 former MLAs with us.

On Tuesday, Shiv Sena Lok Sabha member Rahul Shewale urged Uddhav Thackeray to ask party MPs to support NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. Both the Uddhav Thackeray loyalists and the Eknath Shinde faction have claimed that their faction represents the original Shiv Sena. Of the 55 Shiv Sena MLAs, 40 are with Chief Minister Shinde. Patil further said that he did not leave the party for the sake of power, even when we were ministers, he left the party. He said that not one, but eight ministers have left the party. It means we want to save our Shiv Sena.
