Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Elmau, Germany today to participate in the G-7 summit. Here he was received by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. At the summit, the leaders of the world’s seven richest countries will discuss a variety of important global issues, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, food security and retaliation.
Prime Minister Modi is on a two-day visit to Germany from Sunday to attend the G-7 summit. The conference is being held on topics such as energy, food security, counter-terrorism, environment and democracy. PM Modi tweeted on Monday and said, ‘I will participate in the G-7 summit today in which we will discuss various important global issues.’ The G-7 includes those from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US. The G-7 is an intergovernmental political grouping.
In this meeting of the G-7, the leaders of the world’s seven richest countries can focus on the Ukraine crisis. The crisis has led to geopolitical turmoil, in addition to fueling the global food and energy crisis. The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for almost five months.

PM Modi is attending the G-7 summit held at the Alpine Palace in Schloss Elmau in southern Germany at the invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The summit is being hosted by Germany as the chair of the G-7. Ahead of his departure from Delhi, Modi had said he looked forward to meeting some of the G-7 and visiting leaders of the visiting countries on the sidelines of the summit. Apart from India, Germany, the host of the G-7 summit, has invited Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal and South Africa as guests to recognize them as partners in democracy.
