Six people, including three children, have died due to heavy rains in many parts of the country, including south-west Pakistan. The major cause of death is the collapse of the roof of the houses. Women were also among the dead. Meanwhile, many people are also missing in the flash floods in south-west Balochistan.
According to the disaster management body, the death toll is likely to rise as several people have gone missing in the night flash floods in remote areas of south-western Balochistan province. Officials said the torrential downpour that began on Monday continued on Tuesday, damaging dozens of houses in Balochistan. Rain-related incidents have claimed 38 lives and damaged over 200 houses in Pakistan since June.
Floods in Sydney, Australia, 50,000 affected
A flood emergency has submerged hundreds of homes in and around Australia’s largest city, affecting 50,000 people. Emergency services manager Ashley Sullivan said 100 people have been rescued in an overnight operation for people trapped in cars in flooded areas and inside homes in the Sydney area.
The dams have overflowed and waterways have breached their banks due to torrential rains in the area. This is the fourth flood in the last 16 months. The state government of New South Wales has declared a disaster in 23 areas. Parts of southern Sydney have received over 20 cm of rain in 24 hours.
