A case has been registered against the filmmaker for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindu community through posters. According to a tweet by ANI, “UP Police has booked criminal conspiracy, crime at a place of worship, intentionally hurting religious sentiments, breach of peace against filmmaker Leena Manimekalai for her derogatory portrayal of a Hindu in her film ‘Kaali’. FIR has been registered on the allegation.

A case has been registered against the filmmaker at Hazratganj police station of Lucknow Centre. They have been booked under sections 120B, 153B, 295, 295A, 298, 504, 505(1)(b), 505(2) of the IPC and sections 66 and 67 of the Information Technology Amendment Act 2008.
