New variant BA.2.75 found in the country, no need to panic
Meanwhile, a new variant BA.2.75 has now been identified in the country but scientists are more concerned about the other variant with it which is showing up in different states. These variants have caused nine changes in the spike protein structure of the virus, some of which have the ability to reduce immunity like Delta. However, scientists clearly say that there is no need to panic right now. Due to this there has been no change in the death rate or hospitalization status.
Israeli scientists confirmed
The scientists of Israel had confirmed that the new variant was found in India, while there has been no comment from the Union Health Ministry so far. At the same time, Insacco said that all variants of Omicron are already present in India. The BA.2.75 variant has also been found some time back but the challenge is more with the BA.4 and BA.5 variants which are directly reducing immunity. These have been found in many states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir. A senior scientist at Insacag said, “This variant has been highlighted recently. It is more widespread than Omicron’s ba.4 and ba.5 subtypes.
