Eknath Shinde has proved his majority in the floor test in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. With this it was decided that now Shinde’s government will continue. Shiv Sena chief and former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s troubles increased as soon as Shinde was passed in the floor test. The MLAs have gone from Uddhav’s hands, now the party can also go. Not only this, now Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray can be shown the way out of the party.

So what will Uddhav do now? Will Shivsena turn completely to Shinde? If not, how will Uddhav save Shiv Sena? Let’s know…

First know what happened in the floor test today?

Eknath Shinde needed the votes of 144 MLAs to prove his majority. Earlier the floor test was to be held through voice vote, but could not be done due to the uproar of the opposition. After this, the Speaker of the Assembly got the vote done through head count. In this, every member of the Legislative Assembly was asked with whom he is? In this voting, 164 people voted in favor of Eknath Shinde. Only 99 votes were cast in opposition. 22 MLAs remained absent.

Just before the floor test, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, a member of Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction), NCP, Congress alliance, revolted at the last minute. Three MLAs of Bahujan Vikas Aghadi cast their votes in favor of Shinde. Apart from this, 10 Congress MLAs did not vote. These include former chief ministers Ashok Chavan, Jitesh Antapurkar, Zeeshan Siddiqui, Pranati Shinde, Vijay Wadettiwar, Dheeraj Deshmukh, Kunal Patil, Raju Awale, Mohanrao Humberde and Shirish Chaudhary. Apart from this, some other MLAs including NCP’s Anna Bansode, Sangram Jagtap also distanced themselves from voting.

It is not that MLAs were absent during voting only in NCP, Congress. The MLAs of Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) also turned around at the last minute. Santosh Bangad and Shyam Sundar Shinde of Uddhav Thackeray faction cast their vote in favor of Eknath Shinde during the floor test. At the same time, Rahul Patil and Kailash Patil, who went to Goa with Shinde, joined the Uddhav Thackeray faction back at the last minute. Both cast their votes against Shinde.

How is Shinde snatching the command of the party from Uddhav?

On June 30, Eknath Shinde took oath as the Chief Minister. Soon after, the Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde faction got the Shiv Sena office located in the assembly sealed. BJP’s Rahul Narvekar also won the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.

As soon as he became the Speaker of the Assembly, Rahul Narvekar first removed the leader of Shiv Sena Legislature Party Ajay Chaudhary and Sunil Prabhu from the post of whip. Both of them belonged to the Uddhav Thackeray faction. In his place, Eknath Shinde was recognized as the leader of the legislature party. At the same time, Bharat Gogavale of Shinde faction was appointed as the party whip.

Now the MLAs of the Thackeray faction, who voted against Shinde in the floor test, are in danger of losing their membership. Shinde said that action would be taken against the MLAs who violated the whip as per rules. Let us inform that 16 MLAs of Thackeray faction have voted against Shinde in the floor test.

Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray is also included in this. Now the Speaker of the Assembly has to take action against them. If action is taken on them, then all the 16 MLAs of Thackeray faction will lose their assembly membership and will also be thrown out of the party.

So will Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray be out of Shiv Sena?

Uddhav Thackeray has resigned from the post of MLC, although he still continues to hold the post of Shiv Sena chief. At the same time, his son Aaditya Thackeray is currently an MLA. After passing the floor test, Eknath Shinde is in an even stronger position. It is being said that Shinde is now trying to take the command of the party completely in his hands.

Shinde has the support of around 40 MLAs and most of the MPs. Many party leaders have also joined the Shinde faction. In such a situation, there are speculations that in the coming times, the Shinde faction will show the way out of the party to the Thackeray family. It will start with Aaditya Thackeray.

What option is left for Uddhav?

To know this, contacted senior journalist Pradeep Raimulkar, who has a good hold on Maharashtra politics. “The situation of Shiv Sena has now become like khichdi. There is Uddhav Thackeray on one side and Eknath Shinde on the other. Both the factions are continuously making their claim on Shiv Sena. However, it is clear that Eknath Shinde has most of the MLAs of Shiv Sena. In such a situation, now Uddhav has only two options left.
