In three Telangana visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last six months, CM KCR did not reach the airport even once to receive him. But KCR arrived at the Begumpet airport on Saturday to welcome Yashwant Sinha, the opposition’s candidate for president. PM Modi had also reached Hyderabad on Saturday to participate in the party’s National Working Committee meeting, but KCR broke the protocol without hesitation and did not consider it appropriate to go to welcome him.

For the fulfillment of the protocol, only one minister of the state government reached the airport to receive the Prime Minister. Apart from him, the remaining ministers accompanied the CM to pick up Sinha. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader, who was a part of the NDA government in 2014, is being used in different ways to evade the BJP and behave in a hostile manner. Till 2019, TRS supported in every decision of NDA.

Even after 2019, although TRS did not support on major issues, it did not become vocal in its opposition. But in the last six months, KCR’s attitude towards BJP and PM Modi seems to be creating new equations of politics. KCR has also announced to support the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha in the presidential election to be held on July 18.

Rao insulted the institution not the individual
On the question of Chandrashekhar Rao not reaching PM Modi’s reception, Union Minister Smriti Irani said, by doing this, Rao has insulted not any person but an institution. PM Modi has called for cooperative federalism and has met leaders of various parties with respect. But KCR has always been disrupting the constitutional protocol. On Rao’s son KT Rama Rao’s rhetoric about the BJP meeting, Smriti said, “For them politics will be a circus but for our workers it is part of nation building.”

Protocol broken even in May and February

When PM Modi had visited Telangana earlier in May, KCR did not reach to welcome him. Before that in February also when Modi reached Hyderabad, KCR did not reach the airport.

KCR’s tongue slipped: Wishing Sinha a victory, took back words
Slipping of tongues of politicians is not a new thing. Usually, when politicians slip their tongues, political, social or communal entanglements increase. However, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s remarks have become the subject of humor and discussion on social media. In fact, on Saturday, KCR while welcoming the opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha to a public meeting said, I take back my words, wishing him victory.

BJP’s Andhra Pradesh General Secretary Vishnu Vardhan Reddy first tweeted about his remark and said, “Everyone knows that Sinha’s winning chances are negligible, even his supporters (Mamata Banerjee) know that he is not.” Will be able to win, but wishing for victory, words like this should not have been taken back.

Captain may be NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate

Amidst speculations about the merger of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) with the BJP, a new discussion has started in the political circles of the state. It is being said that the BJP-led NDA at the Center may make Captain Amarinder Singh its candidate for the post of Vice President. However, the leaders of the Punjab BJP leader are not saying anything clearly on this subject. BJP state president Ashwani Sharma says that the decision in this regard has to be taken by the central leadership.

It is noteworthy that the term of the current Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu is ending on 10 August 2022. In view of the merger of Captain’s PLC with the BJP, there are speculations that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP will fight alone in Punjab, then the political experience of an experienced leader like Captain can be useful for the party.

These days the captain is abroad for his treatment and something will be clear only after his return. For the 2022 assembly elections, the Captain formed his own Punjab Lok Congress Party and contested the elections in alliance with the BJP. Apart from this, the good relations of the Captain with Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah are also well known. In such a situation, the central leadership of BJP can seal the name of Captain for the post of Vice President.
