Russian missiles rocked the city of Mykoliv on the 129th day of the Russo-Ukraine War after striking a residential building in Odessa, killing 21. Apart from this, the Russian army has intensified shelling to capture the city of Lisichansk and its surrounding areas, the last stronghold of Ukraine in Luhansk province.
Dozens are feared dead in Russian missile attacks on an apartment block in Mykolaiv and shopping malls in other areas, but the numbers are not known as the situation worsens. Air strike sirens were sounded in areas of Mykolaiv that border the Black Sea port of Odessa. Russia, however, said on Saturday that it had targeted military command posts in the region. Meanwhile, Luhansk Governor Serhi Haidai claimed that fierce fighting was going on in the area.
The outskirts of Lisichansk under Russian occupation
The Russian Defense Ministry said it has recently captured an oil refinery located on the outskirts of Lisichansk. Here, Ukrainian fighters have been trying to save the city from Russian occupation for weeks, as the neighboring Severodnesk region is already under Russian control. The shelling intensified here on Saturday.
