Inspector Cantt Shankar Singh Bisht said that on Saturday evening, information had come from the control room that some tourists were trapped in the Guchchu water. On initial information, the police reached the spot with all the equipment. It was found there that 11 tourists, including three children, had gone to the other side of the Tons river to party. Meanwhile, due to heavy rains in Mussoorie, the water level of the river suddenly increased. So these people got stuck on the other side.
After some time the fire brigade and SDRF were also called. After joint relief and rescue operation for an hour, everyone was brought out safely. Among the tourists, Viaan (11), Shivansh (8), Priya (6), Prem Singh (34), Vidya Devi (32), Rahul (28), Ashish (24) residents of Baniyawala, Vasant Vihar, Usha Rawat, Ashish Kumar, Rajesh Singh, Pradeep Rawat resident of Canal Road Dehradun are involved.
DM Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar inspected the coastal area of Rispana river near Chuna Bhatta when the water level of Rispana river increased on Saturday due to rain. No damage was done due to rising water level. The DM said that it was told by the Meteorological Department that the very heavy rain has stopped now.
The DM instructed the officers associated with the IRS system, including disaster management, to remain alert. The DM told the ADM Finance and Revenue and District Disaster Management Officer that people living on the banks of Rispana river would be ensured to shift to the marked Rainbasera in view of rising water level and being alert.
He instructed the officers/personnel posted in the control room to keep a watch on the water level and shift the people living in the banks of the river to the nearest rain shelter while keeping the alert in view.
