Jalyukt Shivar Yojana can be started again. Proposal for this will be brought soon. As Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis had emphasized on water conservation and farm ponds to avoid drought. This plan is related to this. After the change of government, the investigation started on allegations of corruption in this scheme and it was also closed by Uddhav Thackeray while he was Chief Minister.

What was Jalyukt Shivar Yojana?

To overcome the problem of drought in Maharashtra, the government of Devendra Fadnavis started this scheme. Under this, a target was set to remove water scarcity in five thousand villages of the state, along with taking water conservation measures and providing adequate water in drought-prone areas. Firstly, those areas were selected where there was severe water problem and where farmers were committing maximum suicide.

Under this scheme cement and concrete dams were built in the villages to stop the rain water. In addition, the work of deepening them by excavating canals and ponds was undertaken. Later Uddhav Thackeray’s government started an investigation into the alleged corruption in the scheme and the scheme was called off.

What were the controversies regarding Metro Car Shed?

Aarey Colony, spread over 1,287 hectares adjacent to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, is known as the prime green belt of Mumbai. In 2019, the BJP-Shiv Sena government was looking to build a shed on the site for the ongoing Metro project here. Some local citizens and green activists approached the Bombay High Court against this move. However, the High Court had dismissed these petitions seeking a stay on the felling of trees. After this the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited started cutting trees.

The Mumbai civic body had given permission to the Metro authorities to fell 2,700 trees. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation defended the felling of trees, saying it is limited to only a small area in Aarey Colony and is necessary to ensure a modern transport system for Mumbaikars. There were also reports that Mumbai Metro Rail officials had expressed apprehension that the Metro Line 3 project could be delayed by three years and would cost more than Rs 2,000 crore if the car shed for the line was shifted from Aarey Colony. could be more.

The Shinde government has reversed the decision of the Uddhav government to stop the construction of metro shed in Aarey Colony. Now the Shinde government has announced that the metro car shed will be built in Aarey Colony only. The Uddhav government had taken the decision to transfer the shed in Aarey Colony after a massive protest against the Metro shed. But now that decision has been reversed by the Shinde government. So politics has started on this.
