England’s squad has been announced for three T20s and three ODIs against India. The team will take the field for the first time since the retirement of England great captain Eoin Morgan in limited overs. Jos Buttler has been given the command. Ben Stokes will not play in T20 series. At the same time, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Stokes have been included in the ODI team for the first time in a year.
Spinner Adil Rashid has not been included in the squad for the ODI series. The England and Wales Cricket Board has given him permission to go to Mecca for Haj pilgrimage. The new face in T20 is Lancashire fast bowler Richard Gleason, 34. He has taken 143 wickets in 34 First Class matches and 28 wickets in 21 List A matches. Gleason has 70 wickets in 64 matches of T20.
Harry Brook’s name is in both T20 and ODI teams. Brooke has benefited the most after Eoin Morgan’s retirement. He was waiting for his turn for a long time. Brooke can cement his place in the middle order. Luke Wood and David Payne selected for the Netherlands tour have not been selected this time. Due to the return of Root, David Malan has had to go out of the ODI team.
