Scheme will be implemented like this

The consumption of 62.25 lakh consumers is up to 300 units.
Out of about 73.80 lakh domestic consumers of the state, 62.25 lakh consumers will be directly benefited by the above announcement of the state government, as their monthly consumption of electricity does not exceed 300 units. As per the PSPCL data, the average number of consumers is around 62.25 lakh, which has been determined based on the consumption pattern so far. This number is 84% ​​of the total consumers.

Subsidy continues according to categories of consumers
According to the PSPCL report, the Punjab government is already giving electricity subsidy of Rs.3998 crore per year to various categories of domestic consumers. In this, a subsidy of Rs 1657 crore is being given to about 21.83 lakh consumers of SC, BC and BPL categories. Apart from this, according to the existing policy (64.46 lakh consumers), consumers with load capacity up to 7 kW will be given an annual subsidy of Rs 2341 crore. All this makes a total of Rs.3998 crores per year. With the decision of 300 units of free electricity for all consumers, the total subsidy amount can reach 5500 crores.
