Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. During this he reiterated India’s position on the situation in Ukraine and supported dialogue and diplomacy. In the midst of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, PM Modi has called Putin in the past. The PM also spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The PM appealed to both the countries to find a solution to the problem through dialogue.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, during the telephonic conversation, the two leaders reviewed the implementation of decisions taken during President Putin’s visit to India in December 2021. He spoke on how bilateral trade can be further encouraged especially in agricultural commodities, fertilizers and pharma products.
The two leaders also discussed global issues, including the state of international energy and food markets. In the context of the current situation in Ukraine, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s long standing stance in favor of dialogue and diplomacy, the PMO said. It said the leaders also agreed to continue regular consultations on global and bilateral issues.
