There has been a significant increase in the GST collection in the month of June. According to the government data, the gross GST collection in June 2022 has been Rs 1.44 lakh crore.
This is 56 percent more than the month of June last year. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that now the income from GST will remain above Rs 1.40 lakh crore.
Let us tell you that in May 2022, the GST collection was Rs 1,40,885 crore, then it was 44 percent more than the previous year. Let us tell you that on July 1, the country has completed five years of the implementation of GST. The country has had a mixed experience with regard to GST in the last five years.
Just two days ago, the 47th meeting of the GST Council was held in Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In this meeting, it was decided to increase the rates of GST on many things and reduce the rates of GST on many things.
On the other hand, former Finance Minister of the country and Congress leader P Chidambaram has questioned the system of GST itself. The former Finance Minister has said that the Congress party wants to make it clear that the GST system implemented in the country at present is not the GST that the Congress party wanted to implement.
The GST law currently in force in the country is flawed, faulty and unstable. There are many flaws in this law. In the present system, the government has to issue hundreds of executive orders. P Chidambaram was speaking these things on the occasion of completion of five years of GST tax regime in the country.
