India defeated Ireland by seven wickets in the first match of the two-match T20I series. The match started after about two and a half hours due to rain. The umpires cut the overs and made the match 12-12 overs. Batting first, Ireland scored 108 runs for the loss of four wickets in 12 overs. Harry Tector scored an unbeaten 64 while batting brilliantly.
In reply, the Indian team won the match by scoring 111 runs for three wickets in 9.2 overs. Deepak Hooda remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 29 balls and Dinesh Karthik scored 5 runs off 4 balls.
