Along with the mother, the role of a doctor is also important in bringing a baby into the world. As soon as the baby starts growing in the woman’s womb, doctors start trying to protect both the mother and the baby. From the birth of the child, the doctors stay with him at every stage related to health.

In earlier times there were Vaidyas and midwives, who used to treat patients with their knowledge and experiences. But now after years of hard work and studies, one gets a doctor’s degree. When that doctor, after taking the promise of saving life, comes to the workplace, he not only has to face the most serious illness and pain of the patients, but at times also has to face the fury and insolence of the patients’ family. Doctors who were considered as God’s form, the same doctors also have to face struggle.

There has been a lot of change in the condition of doctors in the last few years, now it is becoming a big challenge for them to keep themselves safe along with curing patients. Every day the matter of beating a doctor in a hospital or clinic remains in the discussion. No legal protection in the country for doctors who save lives of others. We celebrate National Doctor’s Day on July 1 in honor of doctors, but are the same doctors safe in today’s era? Apart from violence, tension among doctors is also increasing due to many other reasons.

Nowadays doctors are facing pressure at every level physical, mental, economic and social. On National Doctor’s Day, know what is the reason behind the difficulties and increasing violence of doctors? The big question arising out of these adverse circumstances is- Why should I become a doctor?

Increasing cases of violence against doctors

We celebrate National Doctors Day on 1st July in honor of doctors, but in the last few years the condition of doctors is in danger.

According to a report by the Indian Medical Association, 75 per cent of doctors in India faced some form of violence at their workplace. Patients or their family members get angry at doctors at any time. Talks loudly, uses abusive language, threatens and even raises hands.

In the Kovid period, where doctors served patients continuously without caring for their lives, then in those days the maximum number of cases of violence against doctors were also reported. Many patients misbehaved with doctors and medical staff in the Kovid ward. The medical team that landed on the field for the Kovid test had to face beatings and stone-pelting.

Patients do not understand the stress of the doctor

On violence against doctors Mohammad Arshad (PG Resident, Department of Psychiatry) It is said that if we have become doctors, it does not mean that we are working to kill patients or their attendants. A doctor works for many days without sleeping. In such a situation, the common people do not know how much mental pressure is on the doctor.

With this mental pressure, he deals with patients and their relatives every day.

For us, treating patients is not just a professional job for us, it also gives emotional satisfaction. We lay down our lives to cure the patient, so where is it justified to get angry at us without thinking anything? We also have a limit, we are not God.

Violence has a negative effect on the will of doctors

In a medical institute located in Lucknow Junior Resident Dr. Arful Khan According to this, so much negativity has come in the society that people do not see positive things. Like where I am working, there OPD is free but still many patients attitude is not right with doctors, still the doctor continues to do his duty. But after working continuously for hours, if a patient or a relative raises his hand on the doctor, then it breaks the heart of the doctor.

The self-satisfaction he has been working so hard for starts to wear off. Due to such antics, the doctor’s desire to work dies, it is a direct loss to the society.

Increasing workload on doctors

Our health system still needs a lot of improvement. The load of the number of patients on every doctor is so high, due to which there is a lot of pressure on the doctors. With the pressure of work, finding time for family and some pressure also comes from the authority level. Amidst increasing pressure, violence, the situation is that doctors are now shying away from making their children doctors.

People accuse the doctor without knowing

Dr. Swapnil Srivastava (Associate Professor, Pharmacology) It is said that every doctor remains under pressure in the condition of doctors in India. How will you treat patients in the right mood under this pressure? From studies to practice, there are different types of challenges everywhere. The doctor is also a human being, when he goes to the vegetable or clothes shop, he also gets things only by paying money. Financial gain according to work also remains a challenge.

In the midst of all this pressure, when the relatives of the patient you are treating come out on fire, it is certainly a discouraging situation. For this reason, doctors do not want the children of their family to become doctors. Alam is about to come that there is already a shortage of doctors in the country and if new people do not show interest in this profession then the situation may get worse.

Doctors forced to work abroad due to economic pressure

There is a lot of work pressure on a resident doctor. He has many patients. He is able to get only 4 to 5 hours of sleep in 24 hours, but his income is very less. In such a situation, the stress on the doctor increases more. Along with working, they also have to take care of the family.

Loss of our country due to doctors going abroad

Doctor Arshad Khan says that doctors work very hard to complete their medical studies, but when they are under financial pressure, they leave the country and go out. For this reason, the fruits of the talent and ability of our country are not available to the people of our own country. According to the hard work a doctor does, his salary is very less. Many Indian doctors are forced to work in countries like America, due to which our country is suffering a lot.

Dr. Arful Khan says that not every doctor works just for money, but it takes five and a half years to study MBBS to become a doctor. Before that, preparing for MBBS, preparing for NEET PG, which takes us two years. Then MD for three years, some people do DM for three years after that. Overall, after 10 to 12 years of studies, if a person expects that his salary should be at least that, which will make his life easier.

How do doctors deal with abuse?

When a patient or a family member speaks abusively with a doctor, even then the doctor talks politely. Along with treatment, they are also given training for this. According to doctors, from the second year of MBBS, doctors start visiting the patient. During clinical training, he only talks to patients. Know about their illness, but when doctors come in internship after final year and start working with senior doctors they are taught how to deal with such patients or their families.

It is told that no matter how angry he is, but a doctor has to talk comfortably. If you calm down and explain to them with love, then half of the patient’s problems are solved by the behavior of the doctor. Slowly with experience we learn to handle the anger of the patients.

Arrangements should be made for the safety of doctors

Dr. Arshad says that even though we are told during medical training that we should be very polite with the patient or family member. But when this misbehavior goes beyond the limits then such treatment to a doctor working 24 hours a day is shameful and very unfortunate. Therefore, good security arrangements should be made for the doctors in every hospital and department, whose responsibility should be in the hands of capable people so that the doctor can also work with a cool mind and peace.
