In Maharashtra, the BJP surprised everyone by appointing Eknath Shinde, leader of the rebel Shiv Sena faction, as the Chief Minister on Thursday. Devendra Fadnavis, who is being called the CM candidate, has become the Deputy Chief Minister in the new government. However, Fadnavis made an unexpected announcement at around 4.30 pm to make Shinde the chief minister and distance himself from the government. The oath was administered to Shinde and Fadnavis at 7.30 pm by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at the Raj Bhavan. The expansion of the cabinet will be done in the next few days.
The end of the political turmoil in the state for the last ten days was also full of drama and tussle. BJP sources say that the decision on the post of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister was taken only in the meeting of Fadnavis with Home Minister Amit Shah and party President JP Nadda in Delhi on Tuesday. However, Fadnavis was not happy with this decision, so after meeting the Governor and presenting his claim to form the government, he said that he would not join the government. After this, Shah himself first called Fadnavis and later tweeted to clarify that he would be the Deputy Chief Minister. In such a situation, Fadnavis was left with no option but to take oath.
The BJP’s long-term politics of tearing Shiv Sena behind Shinde’s appointment as CM is being considered. Through this, she wants to weaken the Thackeray family by giving air to the claim of the rebels to be real Shiv Sainiks. With this decision, an attempt has been made to reach out to the grassroot workers as well. Shinde and other rebel MLAs have been continuously saying that they have not left Shiv Sena. In such a situation, this faction can now claim with full force in the name of Shiv Sena.
Maharashtra happy with Balasaheb becoming Shiv Sainik CM: Eknath Shinde

Mahavikas Aghadi government had its limitations. Devendra Fadnavis despite being a big party. And the BJP gave me a chance. Thank you for that.” He said late night after taking oath that not only his colleagues in the assembly but Maharashtra is also happy that ‘Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sainiks’ have become the chief minister. After taking oath in Mumbai, Shinde returned to Goa at midnight and met his colleagues who supported him in the rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray.
Talking to reporters at the Goa airport, he said that Maharashtra could see this day because of their 50 MLAs. Shinde said, “My colleagues and the whole of Maharashtra is happy that Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sainiks have become the chief minister of the state.” Chief Minister Shinde said that his government will do what the people of Maharashtra expect from him. He said that his government would work for providing justice to every section of the society. We will also take forward the vision of Balasaheb Thackeray. Asked about the cabinet expansion, Shinde said the future strategy would be discussed in the meeting with his colleagues.
Claim: 170 MLAs support the government
After meeting Fadnavis at his house, both the leaders reached Raj Bhavan together. He met the Governor and claimed the support of 170 MLAs in favor of Shinde. Then the governor invited Shinde to form the new government. After leaving the Raj Bhavan, both the leaders jointly informed about Shinde being made the Chief Minister.
Shinde arrived alone…
Eknath Shinde reached Mumbai from Goa by plane. Other rebel MLAs are in Goa. All of them are expected to reach Mumbai soon.
Special session of assembly from July 2
After becoming the Chief Minister, Shinde held the first cabinet meeting on Thursday night. In this, it has been decided to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly on July 2 and 3. During this, a confidence motion can be brought in favor of the government. The new government has directed the Advocate General to argue in the court in favor of the Metro Shed project being rebuilt in Aarey Colony itself. The Uddhav government had shifted the project from Aarey to Kanjurmarg.
PM Modi congratulated both the leaders
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis by tweeting in Marathi. He wrote, Shinde brings with him rich political, legislative and administrative experience as a grassroots leader. Have faith, he will take Maharashtra to new heights.
From auto to the command of Maharashtra

Silence in the Aghadi camp
After the announcement of Shinde becoming the CM, there was silence in the Aghadi camp. Late in the night, NCP leader Sharad Pawar said, the BJP had to take this decision under pressure from the rebel faction. However, I did not expect Shinde to become the CM.
