A Chinese spacecraft has taken pictures of every edge of Mars. This unmanned vehicle, named Tianwen-1, reached Mars orbit in February last year and has been sending pictures there ever since. With this, the orbiter and rover of China’s spacecraft have completed their scientific discoveries on the Red Planet.
Tianwen-1 has also taken pictures of areas that had not been seen till date, including the South Pole of Mars. To capture these pictures of Mars, Chinese spacecraft have had to make 1,344 revolutions in about a year and a half. During this, the orbiter has collected different types of pictures of the entire planet. Now some of these pictures have been made public by the Chinese Space Agency.
Tianwen-1 was China’s first mission to Mars. This spacecraft reached the Red Planet in February 2021 for exploration. It then deployed a robotic rover to the surface of Mars, while the orbiter continued to circle the Red Planet from space.
