During the hearing on Tuesday, the Supreme Court said that people have built houses in psychiatric hospitals, at least some places should be left. The apex court dismissed the petition against the High Court order in a matter related to encroachment on the premises of a mental illness hospital in Telangana.
The apex court bench was hearing a petition filed against the June 14 order of the Telangana High Court. The High Court had dismissed the petition seeking quashing of the order issued in April by the Tehsildar and Executive Magistrate of Ameerpet tehsil to vacate the land.
Dismissing the petition, a vacation bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala said that the life of the hospitalized people cannot be made miserable. The top court gave the petitioners two months to remove the encroachments and asked them to give an undertaking in the high court that they would move out of the property peacefully within two months.
