This is to say of the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath, who reached Lucknow from Kanpur on Sunday, became a part of the reception of the torch of the 44th Chess Olympiad.

In his address, he said that the World Chess Federation (FIDE) has made us proud by deciding to start the torch of every Chess Olympiad from India. This is our ancient game, which the world is accepting today. A special welcome to India’s veteran player Viswanathan Anand, who has come to today’s event, has made this rally even bigger by coming here.

On this occasion, State Sports Minister Girish Chandra Yadav said that the UP government is always trying to promote sports. It is great to be associated with Chess Olympiad. Hope this event will be successful.

On the occasion, Sanjay Kapoor of Chess Association of India said that 2202 players from 187 countries will be a part of this game of check and match in this grand event to be held in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu from 28 July to 10 March. The torch rally will pass through nine districts of UP. I request CM Yogi to include chess as a curriculum in the schools of the state, so that this game becomes a separate identity.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Additional Chief Secretary Planet Avnish Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary Information Navneet Sehgal, Principal Secretary Sports Kalpana Awasthi and others were present on the occasion. Earlier, at 6.30 pm, the torch reached in front of the assembly, which was welcomed by thousands of young players present. The arrival of the torch was used amidst cultural presentations on the occasion.
