The country’s first regional rapid rail is now getting ready for trial run. This train, which reached the Duhai depot in Ghaziabad, has now been brought to the testing yard and erected. To bring the train to the yard, the help of a crane had to be taken, from which it was pulled to the yard. The team of engineers from Gujarat’s plant of Alstom Company, which manufactures Rapid Rail, has reached Duhai Depot. The engineers of Gujarat will do the work to start the train.
The National Capital Region Transport System (NCRTC) aims to conduct the trial run of this rapid rail by August-2022 in any case. The trial run will take place in the first phase between Sahibabad to Duhai depot in Ghaziabad, at a distance of 17 km. Meanwhile the railway tracks have been laid. Three days ago, other technical work including installation of signals has started. NCRTC officials say that in the first phase, we will start the operation of rapid rail from the year 2023. Preparations are in full swing for this.

Phase wise will start operation
The first station of Rapid Rail is Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and the last station is at Modipuram in Meerut. The distance of these two stations is 82 kms. In the first phase, Sahibabad to Duhai in the year-2023, in the second phase, from Duhai to Shatabdinagar in Meerut in the year-2024 and in 2025, the target is to run rapid rail on this entire corridor. Two depots have been built on this entire corridor. The first is in duhai and the second is in Modipuram.

More train sets will come soon from the dusky plant
Rapid Rail has been manufactured at Alstom Company’s plant in Sanwali, Gujarat. A total of 30 train sets will be run on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Rapid corridor. While 10 metro trains will be given only for Meerut. Right now only one train set has arrived at Duhai Depot on June 12. There are 39 more such train sets to come. NCRTC spokesperson Puneet Vats said that the delivery of more train sets will start soon.
